My physical yoga practice all started with a dare: "betcha can't ever do the splits!" and wow, I am eternally grateful to the person that challenged me! Not because I can now do the splits, but because my relationship with yoga continues to transform my life.
My journey into other aspects of yoga actually started when I was much younger, 5 to be exact, when I was initiated into the practices of pranayama (breathing exercises) and Transcendtal Meditation (TM) by my mom. I feel grateful for her, and my teachers since; I completed my Ashtanga Vinyasa Training with Larry and Marie Schultz, my Yin Training with Paul Grilley, and my Sattva training with Rameen Peyrow.
Sattva Yoga is where my heart lies. This style of yoga combines diverse hatha postures into intelligent sequences that open, strengthen and heal the body. Coming from a sports background, I know what a tight body & competitive mind feel like. I now experience a feeling of freedom in my body and mind that I strive to help others discover.
When I did my first yoga teacher training in 2009, my intention was to deepen my own understanding of yoga; I didn't think I ever wanted to teach! Now, I feel incredibly blessed to do what I love for my career. With over 500 hours of classroom teaching, I have seen that the journey of yoga is different for everyone- people pave their own road with their own unique bodies, spirits and experiences. I believe this path is more beautiful and rewarding when yoga is involved.
Being a lululemon athletica brand ambassador for the past 2 years has been an enriching and exciting experience! I am proud to be supported by such an amazing company that strives to elevate the yoga community and has helped many of my own dreams come true. This year I was in a full-page magazine ad in The Yoga Journal, on their website and their shopping bags, and got to teach a class for 200+ people at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald; these are just a few highlights that have come from my relationship with lululemon.
I am grateful to share my incredible respect and dedication to yoga with other people, and assist them on their paths, while they help me continue paving my own.
Much love,
Kenna Kaklin

“Kenna has mastered the art of making her classes a balance between serious practice and creating contagious happiness in the yoga community. Since my first class with her, I cannot remember a time when she has wavered in her dedication to that sattva ideal of balance. Her professionalism and candor were especially appreciated when I was recovering from a back injury, and she took the time to work with the information presented by my team of caregivers--my doctor, physical therapist, and chiropractor (among others)--to design routines to help the healing process and eventually get me back to a regular practice. My friends and I can’t recommend her enough.” - Peter (30-something Consultant)
"I've been doing yoga for 15 years, and Kenna is one of the best instructors I've encountered. She is an excellent communicator and explains the intricacies of each posture really well, so that students can go deeper into the postures and continually improve their practice. Her classes are challenging, safe, interesting and engage with the deeper intentions of yoga practice. I always feel satisfied, renewed, and at peace after her class. And on top of that, she's a radiant human being!" -Kristine (38, University Professor)
"I was reluctant to try yoga when I first met and begin working with Kenna about 10 months ago. Throughout my life, I have been an active person and yet as I have gotten older, I have noticed my flexibility has diminished. Since starting with Kenna, that has all changed. Lets start with first she is simply an amazing teacher. Highly knowledgable, encouraging, patient and completely focused on my specific needs. She prepares our private sessions so as to allow me to maximize my personal growth while making sure I am protected from injury. In the short time we have worked together, I have come to love practicing yoga and especially working with Kenna. My strength, flexibility and overall heath have been greatly benefited by our work together. She is both an amazing person and true professional. " - Richard (60, CEO)
"I’ve been practicing yoga on and off for the past 8 or so years. While I know yoga is good for me and that I should do it, I used to somewhat dread going. That is, until I met Kenna. She comes into my work once a week and her classes are challenging and constantly changing (so you don’t get bored), and her upbeat personality injects a positive energy into the practice. Through her thoughtful posture comments (sink into your left big toe, put more weight on your right leg, etc), she has helped me improve my yoga ability, my overall body awareness, and has also made me love yoga! I now look forward to my weekly practices with Kenna." -Kelly (32, Marketing Manager)
"I have been Kenna’s student for a little over year. I began my yoga practice a few months ago, before I met her. From the very first class I loved practicing yoga with Kenna! I started to go to every class that she taught, and loved it. I am so lucky to have had her as my guide in my yoga journey. She has really helped me grow physically and mentally in my practice. Her passion for, and devotion to yoga, and genuine care for her students makes her classes so special – I feel like I have explored physical and mental territory that I never would have achieved under another teacher. I feel so blessed to have her in my life as my teacher and look forward to continuing my yoga journey with her." -Yukiko (34, Recruitment Specialist)
"The class I took with Kenna last night was one of the best I've taken so far! Her class was challenging and fast-paced, however she was extremely intuitive to how the class was feeling, if we needed a rest or an extra push. Also, Kenna managed to keep a challenging, intense class fun and light and her joyful, upbeat personality showed greatly. Thank you so much for providing me with this excellent experience." -Merran (20, Student)
"I just wanted to write with some feedback from my class last night with Kenna. I have been doing hot yoga for about a year and a half, I go very regularly (every second day or so). Though my friend asked me to go to your studio with her so I decided I’d change my practice a little. Kenna was our instructor for the evening. I have learned that a teachers style can make or break a class for me. Kenna definitely made my practice very enjoyable and helped me with some key pointers while in some of my postures that allowed me to feel the posture in a whole new way. The pace of her flow was very consistent and her explanation of the postures I haven’t done before was very clear and helpful." -Dustin (28, Snowboard Brand Rep)
When I begin yoga with people, I always start by asking them what their intention is for doing yoga. As yoga is both a science and an art, it has the ability to improve all aspects of one's self; body, mind and spirit. If you are interested in yoga, yoga is available to you, whatever your age, activity level, or understanding of this time-tested practice. I have worked with children and seniors, inactive people and professional athletes. We will work together to design a program that will support you in manifesting your intention.
At this point in my teaching career I am focusing my attention on bringing Sattva Yoga into the workplace through corporate yoga classes, as well as working with individuals with specific goals or needs through private classes. Prices vary for these types of sessions. If you have any questions, click on contact me and I will get right back to you =)
Here at CosMedics, we LOVE yoga! Kenna Kaklin, our wonderful Yoga Instructor joins us twice a week during our lunch hour to guide us through a practice designed just for us! We look forward to this every week and look and feel better than ever before!
Many people say that true beauty comes from the inside out; that health and happiness has a way of radiating outwards to the surface. Yoga is a process of going inwards, a way of connecting to this inner beauty, and allowing your true potential to shine through. By combining different body postures with breath, the body and mind has the opportunity to cleanse, purify, and heal itself. Yoga is an activity that benefits anyone who is willing and interested. Physically, yoga helps tone, lengthen, and strengthen the muscles which can contribute to the sculpting of the body. It also helps to loosen muscles that have been tightened by inactivity or stress, which enhances flexibility, posture, and freedom of movement. Psychologically, yoga calms the mind, relieves stress, improves sleep, sharpens your focus and increases your ability to stay grounded.
